Purpose and requirement

The purpose of The Equine Academy

The purpose of The Equine Acdemy is to offer courses/educations at a high level in the functional anatomy of the horse, biomechanic, different types of treatment, etc. Through that the academy wish to impart a correlational knowledge to the students about the subjects they choose to study. The educations are at a very high levels so that the students are prepared with an all-round knowledge when they graduate. It is possible to graduate as a equine therapist on several levels as well as a horse therapist. 

The purpose of the courses

To provide a wide foundation of theoretical and practical knowledge to the students

The educations are of modular structure so that one can attend the courses one at a time and piece together the courses according to one's need and time available

Requirements of admission:   

In order to be able to study at The Equine Academy one must have turned 16 

You must like working with horses and people

There are no formal competences you must posses to be admitted

The students must have som experience handling horses - either consisting of experience with your own horse, work experience with horses and/or regular riding.

If you do not have any of the above mentioned experience it is necessary to start with the course; 'Basic Course Horse' 

The teaching

The teaching is carried out by competent instructors

If necessary specialists will be called in to execute the lectures

Assignments must be handed in regularly to show the skills of the students

For every course passed a diploma will be handed out

To become equine therapist or horse therapist the students must pass an exam

The education takes place at the address: Thostrupvej 15, 8881 Thorsų

Tests/exams

Every level of the equine therapist education as well as the horse therapist education is completed with tests; written as well as oral and pratical. At the tests an external examiner will be present.

During the education assignments must be handed in and thesises written. Moreover the students will have to attain some practical experience of their own and must thoughout the education massage 125-200 horses.

Diplomas will be handed out when each course/education has been passed.
